This is a very late storm. Many Village residents who have recently returned for the season may have never experienced a tropical event. For those unfamiliar with proper storm preparation, we urge you to act with urgency as there is only a short amount of time to prepare.
Hurricane conditions are possible beginning late Wednesday. A dangerous storm surge is possible across much of the east coast of Florida. The storm surge will be accompanied by large and damaging waves.
Do not focus on the exact track of Nicole since it is a large storm with hazards extending well outside of the forecast cone.
Nicole will produce heavy rainfall in our area by Wednesday night and Thursday. Over the next few hours, we suggest the following:
- Secure any outside furniture, plants, and other items that can blow away.
- You may want to also charge your cell phones.
Master Management crews will be working across the village during the next 48 hours to keep storm drains clear of debris.
